Kirk Cousins needs do more in second hal

The 2016 NFL season already is at itsmidway point, which means upcoming free agents have just eight or nine more games to increase their asking prices for their next contract. Here we look at 10 upcoming free agents whose salaries next year are going to be highly dependent on how they finish this season.FANTASY: Best Week 9 waiver wire pickupsSome are well on their way to reaching their goals, while others need a reboot on what looks like a lost season.Kirk Cousins, QB, RedskinsThe Redskins did not feel comfortable making Cousins a $20 million QB last year, opting instead for a one-year franchise tag.A year later, they mightbe just as uncertain. Cousins numbers are slightly down from last year, but thus far, he has proven that last year was Brandon Linder Jersey not a fluke. That said, with the recent failures of Brock Osweiler, Colin Kaepernick, Ryan Tannehill and others, teams mightbe le s willing to just fork over big contracts to players who are not Tier 1 talents. Cousins needs a strong close and at least one good playoff game to get his big contract.MARVEZ: Yes, somebody did lose in the Redskins-Bengals gameChristine Michael, RB, SeahawksMichael has put together a nice season for Seattle, bringing a running threat back to theoffense. Since returning to Seattle last year, Michael wasaveraging over 65 yards a game going into Week 8. He needs to keep it up, as Michael is a bit of a journeyman having already been released twice and traded once in his four year career. If he finishes well, he should secure a three year contract.Latavius Murray, RB, RaidersMurray surprised many people when he topped 1,000 yards last season.Pulling off that feattwo years in a row wouldsolidifyhis status as a solid option in free agency. Thus far, though, Murray has been unable to reach last years highs. He hasmi sed a few games due to injury, and he is around 20 yards per game off his 2015 pace. He would be helped tremendously if Oakland wereable to put some teams away early so he could pad his stats closing games out, but hell need to find a way to Tashaun Gipson Jersey be more involved to earn the big money next year.Michael Floyd, WR, CardinalsFloyd, a 2012first-round pick, has been nothing short of a disaster in 2016. He is on pace to finish with the worst numbers of his career, and his playing time has been cut. Floyd has closed seasons strong before, and he needs a major turnaround over the second half of the year. Without it, hes going to struggle to find a home in free agency and remain in the NFL in 2017.MORE: Biggest busts in NFL draft historyTerrelle Pryor, WR, BrownsPryor is one of the mostintriguing free agents this year. Hehas embraced the switch to receiver and is one of the few bright spots on the Browns' team. Physically, he has all the gifts teams look for in a player, and many could look at this as just the tip of the iceberg if he continues to play well. With recentcontracts for No.2 receivers reaching the $10 million-plus mark, Pryor could be in for a huge payday. If he stumbles, though, hell be lucky to get half that much.MORE: Browns reportedly want to extend PryorKawann Short, DT, PanthersLast year it seemed to be a given that Short would be one of the top paid defensive tackles in the NFL. He came out of nowhere to notch 11 sacks and was one of the most notable players in the Panthers' playoff run. Short never received his extension, though, and looks like a flash in the pan as he prepares for free agency. His impact numbers are non-existent, and that big, $13 million-pluspayday is going to be a pipe dream unle s he turns it on in the second half of the year.Jason Brad Nortman Jersey Pierre Paul, DE, GiantsIts likely that JPP, who just two years ago would have been a $13 million-per-year player, is going to end up playing most of his career on one-year contracts. Since his fireworks accident, Pierre-Paul has been unable to make the impact needed to be a top-paid pa s rusher in the NFL. With just 1.5 sacks this season and now 2.5 sacks in his last 15 games, he runs the risk of being looked at as a solid run defender with the potential to do more. Those players dont get paid anywhere near $13 million a year.Melvin Ingram, LB, ChargersIngrams status as a first-round talent who seemed to be improving last season gives him a good chance to make big money in 2017. He is just about on pace to get double-digit sacks for the second season in a row, and that is generally good enough for $10 million a season. Marcedes Lewis Jersey With rookie Joey Bosa getting all the defensive headlines in San Diego, Ingram will need to produce in the second half of the season to keep his name in the spotlight as he prepares for free agency.Lorenzo Alexander, LB, BillsAlexander has been in the NFL for 10years and had a total of ninesacks in the first nine of them. This year, he leads the NFL in sacks.Alexander will be 34 next year, so we are not talking about a major contract. But if he can continue at even half his current pace and make it through the year healthy, he should be able to pocket a few million guaranteed. Thats not too bad for a player who has been looked at as a minimum salary-type guy.MORE: Alexander for defensive player of the year?Prince Amukamara, CB, JaguarsThe former first-rounder learned last year how inconsistency, limited highlight playsand a reputation for being injury prone can impact a playernegatively in free agency. And history looks like it will repeat itself in 2017.Amukamara signed a one-year contract with the Jaguars in hopes of proving the doubters wrong and making big money in 2017. Amukamara has no interceptions and just three starts on a terrible defense. He has a fewgames left to change his fortunes for next year.
