Are the Detroit Lions finally for real?

Now that the Detroit Lions are 4-0 and have come back from major deficits are the Detroit Lions a team that can go deep into the playoffs or are they gonna fall to the curse of Bobby Layne once again and fail to make the playoffs or lose in the first round if they do make it?

Honestly, last year I thought would be the Lions coming out year. They have a very good offensive and defensive franchise player in Suh and Stafford. With Matt Stafford coming on board, I think it's just a matter of time before they're serious contenders.

I really think this is the year the Lions finally get back to the playoffs and show relative success. This is the first time they've started 4-0 since like 1970 (from my recollection). They'll be good this year and continue what they've started.

The problem they have is that they're in the NFC north with the Packers and Bears. With this... I don't know if they have a legitimate shot at winning the division (they can out-win the bears, but the packers may be tough). They have a very good chance at getting a wild card birth with 10 wins. I think they're only competition in this way would be the NFC south (Panthers and Saints are most likely).

In all... yes I think the Lions are a very good team, and their arrow is pointing up for many years to come. I like underdogs and there is no bigger than Detroit the past twenty years. I finally feel they are in a position to be legitimate NFL contenders.

I knew Jim Schwartz would turn that team in the right direction, I just had no idea it would be this quick.

If they can stay healthy (knock on wood) they might just be "for real". It would be nice if they played a good game in the FIRST half, too, though.

This Lions team is for real. They have been doing a good job on draft day of building a team and they are finally getting over the Matt Millen hangover. I think by week 8 that people will start to see that they are for real. I don't know how far in the playoffs they will go, but you have to remember that this is an organization that has had a long history of losing. They have built a solid nucleus for the next few years, and they will learn to be winners together. As for the curse of Bobby Layne, Matt Stafford went to the same high school as Layne, and he is a solid QB to help them break the curse. If you don't think a club curse can be overcome, just look at the Red Sox and the curse of the Bambino.

They are looking good this year,
And there is not city, that needs something like a playoff team, than Detroit.
The main problem ,
is that they are in the same division as the Packers.

From a Steelers fan, forever.

No they can not keep falling behind early, when they play a real team that can finish they will struggle. Theyll be lucky to make the wild card
